Collection 09 · Countywide civil litigation and public spending
County Lawsuits & Settlements
Lawsuits, settlements, judgments, dismissals and related county spending across all county departments—not limited to the Sheriff’s Office.
Ten-year summary supplied by County Counsel
A September 12 CPRA request sought civil case and payment records for September 12, 2016–September 12, 2026. County Counsel provided an eight-page case summary on September 25. It is a county-prepared inventory, not an independent verification of every docket or payment.
Follow-up: Jacqueline M. Perez v. Amador County Sheriff’s Office, et al. (26CV15536), filed August 4, 2026, does not appear in that summary. An October 19 follow-up seeks an explanation and more specific records. This collection does not assume the reason for the omission.

Countywide, not Sheriff-only
The county summary lists matters across Sheriff’s operations, County Counsel, the District Attorney’s Office, Social Services, Planning, Public Works and other departments. It covers both litigation with reported payments and matters listed as dismissed or pending.

Reading these records
A complaint is an allegation, not an adjudicated fact. A summary’s “Amount paid to Plaintiff: $0” means that is what the county reported for that entry; it does not prove that a case involved no defense expense. The county summary may contain omissions and should be cross-checked against court records.
