Sheriff Budget & Spending Collection
Original County ledger exports, budget records, Axon procurement files, CPRA correspondence, and source-linked analysis of Sheriff spending, purchasing, revenue, encumbrances, and budget claims.
County produced four general-ledger workbooks
The August 30, 2026 request sought Sheriff financial transaction detail for FY 2023–24 through FY 2026–27 year-to-date. County Counsel responded September 16 that responsive general-ledger records had been identified and provided four XLSX workbooks. The County said it did not identify a separate transaction-level expenditure/revenue report or a separate list of Sheriff budget units, funds, cost centers, trusts, or special accounts responsive to the other two request items.
“Hate Axion” public comment compared with the County’s Axon records
An archived Nextdoor exchange records Sheriff Gary Redman saying “nope. Hate Axion.” when asked whether the department’s body cameras were Axon. The new County production shows a five-year Axon TASER 10 agreement estimated at $436,598.51 and a sole-source form reporting that no evaluation of other equipment, products, or services was performed.

What the four workbooks show
These figures are calculated from the County-produced workbooks and remain subject to the limitations described in the audit.
Recorded expenditures increased over the three completed years
Net activity in account 335000 (Expenditure Control) rises from approximately $20.44 million in FY 2023–24 to $24.45 million in FY 2024–25 and $25.02 million in FY 2025–26. The 2024–25 increase includes a large airport hangar/warehouse project.
The production does not expose budget-unit detail
The spreadsheets contain fund, account, date, reference, vendor/payee, debit, credit, and description fields, but no separate department/budget-unit column. That limits the ability to assign each line to Sheriff 2210, dispatch, jail, bailiffs, or another Sheriff-related unit from these exports alone.
